Latest Update Regarding Corona Virus in Indonesia (22 May 2020)

Positive cases of the corona virus in Indonesia are still increasing, reaching more than 20,000 cases. Meanwhile around the world, the corona virus has infected more than 5.2 million people. According to the data, the addition of positive cases began to accelerate since last April 6, namely around 200-300 people per day, then moved up to 300-400 new cases per day. And now there are 500-600 new cases per day.

To prevent the addition of positive cases of contracting the corona virus, since April 10, 2020, region by region in Indonesia has imposed Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). In total there are 4 provinces and 20 regencies / cities that enforce the PSBB until Tuesday (12/5).

Jakarta as the province with the highest number of cases is still experiencing a fluctuation of Covid-19 patients.

In the last two weeks, until Thursday 23 May, the addition of positive cases in Jakarta has moved in the range of 80-100 cases per day. There are more than 6,400 positive cases in Jakarta.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta Regulation regarding sanctions and fines for PSBB violations has also come into effect. Fines ranging from IDR 250,000 to IDR 10 million. The violations in question include not wearing masks in public places, residents who gather more than five people, restaurants that enforce on-site dining, and company operations outside the specified sectors.

Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19 Achmad Yurianto said, “This illustration is a point of how disciplined we are to wash our hands, keep our distance, wear masks, don’t go home and carry out government regulations.”
