Latest Update Regarding Corona Virus in Indonesia (07 August 2020)

Five months since the government confirmed it on March 2, the positive confirmed cases of the corona virus in Indonesia were more than 111,000 people on Sunday (02/08) according to data from the Ministry of Health and BNPB.

This is the seventh largest number in Asia, when referring to data from Johns Hopkins University. The first rank is India with more than 1.75 million cases, second Iran with around 309,000 cases, then Saudi Arabia with 279,000 cases, fourth Pakistan with 278,000 cases, fifth Bangladesh with 239,000 cases, then Iraq with around 118,000 cases.

Two weeks ago, the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia surpassed China.

The following is the curve of corona virus transmission in Indonesia based on data from the Ministry of Health:

Based on incoming data, it is known that there have been an addition of 1,882 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The addition has caused the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to now reach 118,753 people, starting from the announcement of the first case on March 2, 2020.

The number of 1,882 new cases was discovered after the government examined 29,375 specimens from 13,423 people sampled. In total, the government has examined 1,633,156 specimens from 936,132 people sampled. This means that one person can undergo specimen examination more than once.

The same data also shows good news with the increasing number of recovered Covid-19 patients. There are an additional 1,756 Covid-19 patients who recover in a day. Thus, the total number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered and are no longer infected with the corona virus is 75,645 people.

They were declared cured after two tests with the polymerase chain reaction method showing negative results for the corona virus. Meanwhile, as many as 75,645 patients recovered, as many as 63.7 percent of the total existing Covid-19 cases.

However, there is sad news with the discovery of additional Covid-19 patients who have died. In the period 5 – 6 August 2020, an additional 69 Covid-19 patients died. Thus, a total of 5,521 Covid-19 patients have died since the pandemic took place. The change in the number of patients who recovered and died related to Covid-19 means that currently there are 37,587 people who are still being treated. Meanwhile, the number of suspects is currently recorded at 91,219 people.

Covid-19 cases are currently known to exist in all provinces or 34 provinces throughout Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua. In particular, there are 479 districts / cities out of 34 provinces that have been affected by the transmission of the corona virus. That number exceeds 90 percent of all regencies / cities in Indonesia.
