Latest Update Regarding Corona Virus in Indonesia (22 January 2021)

The transmission of the corona virus in Indonesia has no signs of decreasing.

Since January 12, 2020, the curve for the addition of daily corona cases has continued to increase in the range of 10-12 thousand, even the highest record occurred on January 16 with 14,224 cases. And as of today, Thursday (21/1), positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia recorded an additional 11,703 new cases. With this, now the total number of positive cases has reached 951,651 people. The good news, patients recovered also increased by 9,087 people. Thus, the accumulative cured cases now total 772,790 people.
Even so, it is unfortunate that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Indonesia is still very high, specifically an increase of 346 people in the last day. And a total of 27,203 patients died.
The addition of cases today was obtained from examining 67,454 specimens. Meanwhile, there were 79,200 suspect cases still being observed. Instead of getting under control, the COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continue to show a sharp increase in graph. This surge was allegedly due to the effect of the long holiday at the end of the year. As a result, the government decided to again extend the Restriction of Social Activities (PPKM) until February 8, 2021.
